CVE-2024-34693 is an improper input validation issue in Apache Superset. An authenticated attacker can create a MariaDB connection with local_infile enabled. If the target environment is also configured so that the MariaDB server permits local_infile (disabled by default) and the local MySQL/MariaDB client on the Superset web server also allows it, the attacker can issue a specific MySQL/MariaDB SQL command that causes files from the Superset server to be read and their contents inserted into a MariaDB table. The issue affects Apache Superset versions before 3.1.3 and version 4.0.0.

This repository provides a proof-of-concept Python exploit for CVE-2024-34693, a vulnerability in Apache Superset that allows attackers to read arbitrary files from the server. The exploit works by setting up a rogue MySQL server using Bettercap, then creating a malicious MariaDB connection in the target Superset instance via its API. The attacker specifies the Superset URL and the file to exfiltrate as arguments. The script automates the process of launching the rogue server and sending the malicious connection request. The repository contains two files: a README.md with usage instructions and details, and the main exploit script (exploit_cve_2024_34693.py). The exploit requires network access to the Superset instance and the ability to run Bettercap. The main attack vector is network-based, targeting the Superset API to create a database connection that abuses the LOAD DATA LOCAL INFILE feature to read files from the server. The exploit is a functional proof-of-concept and does not include advanced payload customization or post-exploitation features.
