CVE-2024-35789 is a use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel mac80211 Wi-Fi subsystem. When a non-4-address station is moved out of a VLAN and that VLAN is subsequently deleted, the station's fast-RX entry can retain a pointer to the deleted VLAN network device. Later use of the stale fast-RX state can dereference freed memory. The upstream fix invokes ieee80211_check_fast_rx() immediately after the VLAN change so that fast-RX state is checked and cleared as necessary.
