CVE-2024-35790 affects the Linux kernel USB Type-C DisplayPort alternate-mode driver. During dp_altmode_probe(), sysfs attributes can become accessible to userspace before typec_altmode_set_drvdata() finishes initializing the driver data. A concurrent sysfs read can therefore cause dev_get_drvdata() to return NULL, leading to a NULL-pointer dereference when hpd_show() accesses dp->hpd or pin_assignment_show() accesses dp->lock. The fix replaces manual sysfs node creation with the driver's default device attribute group, preventing premature exposure while preserving the sysfs ABI.
