CVE-2024-35854 is a use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel mlxsw Spectrum ACL TCAM implementation. During delayed virtual-region rehash work, ACL filters are migrated between regions according to available hardware credits. The implementation treated a non-negative credit count as proof that migration had completed and destroyed the source region. A failed migration can also leave a non-negative credit count, causing the source region to be freed while filters still reference it. Subsequent ACL entry removal can dereference the freed region.
