CVE-2024-35884 is a Linux kernel networking flaw in UDP GRO/GSO handling when receive-side UDP GRO forwarding or GRO-list processing coalesces packets that subsequently enter a tunnel endpoint in a different network namespace. UDP socket lookup may fail to identify the tunnel context because the lookup is limited to the current network namespace, allowing non-tunnel GSO socket buffers to reach tunnel receive processing. For Geneve traffic, tunnel-header removal adjusts the parent buffer but not associated fragment-list buffers. Subsequent segmentation can use an invalid GSO size and inconsistent offsets, causing packet corruption or kernel failures. The fix extends unexpected-GSO validation so non-tunnel GSO packets entering a tunnel are segmented rather than accepted intact.
