CVE-2024-35885 is a NULL pointer dereference in the Linux kernel mlxbf_gige Ethernet driver during system shutdown. The driver shutdown path could partially deinitialize the hardware without stopping the network interface when distribution networking logic did not invoke the driver stop operation. NAPI could consequently remain enabled and process scheduled transmit-completion work against partially deinitialized driver state, resulting in a kernel NULL pointer dereference.
