CVE-2024-35895 is a Linux kernel BPF sockmap/sockhash locking flaw in the map-delete-element operation. A BPF tracing program can invoke deletion from interrupt context, where interrupts are disabled. Sockmap bucket locks are intentionally not hardirq-safe and may conflict with socket locks held in an IRQ-disabled path, allowing lock acquisition in opposite orders and causing a lock-inversion deadlock. The fix detects map deletion from an interrupt-disabled context and returns an error. Sockmap and sockhash map updates are not affected because the BPF verifier does not permit BPF tracing programs to update those map types.
