CVE-2024-35944 affects the Linux kernel VMCI datagram handling path in dg_dispatch_as_host(). The function copied an entire variable-length VMCI datagram into the msg member of a delayed_datagram_info allocation using a size derived from the datagram payload length. Although the adjacent flexible payload array is intentionally contiguous with msg, the copy crossed a structure-member boundary and triggered a FORTIFY_SOURCE run-time field-spanning write warning. The fix separates copying of the fixed datagram header from copying of the payload into its dedicated flexible array.
