CVE-2024-35966 is an out-of-bounds read in the Linux kernel Bluetooth RFCOMM socket option handling path. The legacy RFCOMM setsockopt implementation, rfcomm_sock_setsockopt_old(), copied option data without validating that the user-supplied option length was sufficient for the data subsequently accessed. A malformed setsockopt request with an undersized input buffer can cause copy_from_sockptr to read beyond the supplied buffer in kernel context.
