CVE-2024-36004 affects the Linux kernel i40e Intel Ethernet driver. The driver created its service-task workqueue with the WQ_MEM_RECLAIM flag. During SR-IOV-related device close or teardown activity, that reclaim-capable i40e workqueue could flush a non-reclaim-capable InfiniBand/RDMA workqueue, causing the workqueue dependency validator to issue a check_flush_dependency warning. The upstream correction removes WQ_MEM_RECLAIM from the i40e workqueue configuration, matching the prior correction for the ice driver.
