CVE-2024-36074 is a remote code execution vulnerability affecting Netwrix CoSoSys Endpoint Protector through 5.9.3 and CoSoSys Unify through 7.0.6 on Windows clients. The flaw occurs during the EasyLock third-party update process, where the agent retrieves a ZIP archive from a server-controlled source and extracts it locally without properly validating archive entry paths. This creates a Zip Slip condition that allows path traversal during extraction and enables arbitrary file overwrite or creation on the client system. An attacker who has administrative access to the Endpoint Protector or Unify server can supply a malicious EasyLock update package that causes managed Windows clients to write attacker-controlled files outside the intended extraction directory and subsequently execute malicious code.
