CVE-2024-36899 is a use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel gpiolib GPIO character-device line-information notification path. During character-device release, the watched-line bitmap can be freed before the line-information-change notifier is unregistered. If a concurrent GPIO-line release holds the notifier chain read lock and invokes the notification callback, the callback can subsequently access the already-freed bitmap.
