CVE-2024-36920 affects the Linux kernel SCSI mpi3mr driver. The BSG reply-buffer structure declared its variable-length reply buffer as a one-element array, while mpi3mr_bsg_request() copies larger reply data into the allocated trailing storage. Kernel field-size checking consequently reports a field-spanning memcpy write when a 128-byte reply is copied, despite the buffer being intended as flexible-length storage. The fix converts the member to a proper flexible array and adjusts the corresponding allocation-size calculation.
