CVE-2024-36921 is an improper bounds-validation vulnerability in the Linux kernel Intel iwlwifi MVM wireless driver. During station removal, iwl_mvm_mld_rm_sta_id could process an invalid station (STA) identifier and use it for array access without first validating that it is within the permitted range. The flaw can occur when the driver enters an inconsistent state during error handling. Upstream remediation adds validation that rejects invalid STA IDs before array access.
