CVE-2024-36957 is an off-by-one read flaw in the Linux kernel OcteonTX2 AF (octeontx2-af) component. The affected code copied user-supplied data with memdup_user(buffer, count + 1) to obtain a NUL-terminated buffer, despite validation and the supplied buffer covering only count bytes. This could attempt to read one byte beyond the user-provided range. The fix replaces this usage with memdup_user_nul(), which copies the specified count bytes and appends a NUL terminator safely.
