CVE-2024-37356 is an undefined bit-shift vulnerability in the Linux kernel TCP DCTCP implementation. The dctcp_update_alpha() function uses the configurable dctcp_shift_g module parameter as a shift count without enforcing its valid range. An excessively large value can cause shift exponents to exceed the width of the 32-bit operands during DCTCP alpha calculation. The upstream fix restricts the parameter to a maximum value of 10 using bounded unsigned-integer parameter validation.
