CVE-2024-38562 is an out-of-bounds array-indexing flaw in the Linux kernel nl80211 Wi-Fi subsystem. Before the flexible channel array in an nl80211 request structure is used, its channel-count field must be initialized. The vulnerable code also derived addresses for data following the channel array through a one-past-the-end channel-array index, rather than calculating the offset from the request allocation base. This causes runtime bounds checking to report an out-of-bounds access condition.
