CVE-2024-38657 is a critical arbitrary file write vulnerability in Ivanti Connect Secure and Ivanti Policy Secure caused by external control of a file name. In vulnerable versions, an authenticated remote attacker with administrator privileges can influence the file name used by the application and write attacker-controlled files to the underlying filesystem. The issue affects Ivanti Connect Secure before 22.7R2.4 and Ivanti Policy Secure before 22.7R1.3. Successful exploitation enables creation and modification of files on the target system and can undermine system integrity.
