CVE-2024-40094 is an allocation-of-resources-without-limits-or-throttling vulnerability in GraphQL Java. The library's protections against denial of service through GraphQL introspection queries do not properly account for ExecutableNormalizedFields (ENFs). A crafted introspection query can therefore evade the intended resource-accounting controls and cause excessive resource consumption. Fixed releases are GraphQL Java 19.11, 20.9, and 21.5 and later in their respective release lines.

This repository contains a Python proof-of-concept exploit for CVE-2024-40094, a denial of service vulnerability in graphql-java. The main file, CVE-2024-40094.py, is a standalone asynchronous script that sends a large number of deeply nested GraphQL introspection queries with repeated alias blocks to a target GraphQL API endpoint. The script is highly configurable via command-line arguments, allowing the user to set the target URL, HTTP headers (including authorization), number of concurrent jobs, alias count, concurrency limit, request delay, and maximum requests per job. The exploit leverages asyncio and aiohttp for efficient parallel execution and can log results to a file. The README provides detailed usage instructions, warnings about DoS risks, and configuration options. The exploit is intended for testing and research against servers running vulnerable versions of graphql-java and should not be used without authorization. No hardcoded credentials or real-world endpoints are present; the default endpoint is a placeholder. The repository is well-structured, with clear separation between code, documentation, and licensing.
