CVE-2024-40957 is a Linux kernel Segment Routing over IPv6 (SRv6) flaw in the End.DX4 and End.DX6 local processing behaviors. The input_action_end_dx4() and input_action_end_dx6() paths invoke the Netfilter PREROUTING hook with incorrect device arguments, passing a NULL ingress device where a valid ingress device is required and an output device should be NULL. Netfilter extensions that dereference the ingress-device pointer, including reverse-path-filter matching logic, can consequently cause a kernel NULL-pointer dereference.
