CVE-2024-41008 affects the lifecycle management of the virtual-memory task-information object in the Linux kernel AMDGPU graphics driver. The fix changes vm->task_info to a dynamically allocated, reference-counted object and introduces amdgpu_vm_get_task_info and amdgpu_vm_put_task_info to acquire and release references. Initialization acquires the initial reference, finalization releases it, and the object is freed when its last reference is released. Related changes add NULL checks and correct reference handling in callers. The vulnerability can affect availability; the exact triggering sequence and failure mode are not specified.
