CVE-2024-41038 is a boundary-validation flaw in the Linux kernel cs_dsp firmware parser when processing wmfw version 2 algorithm block headers. wmfw V2 headers contain variable-length string fields, causing subsequent field offsets and the total header size to vary. The parser did not ensure that every subsequently accessed field remained within the available firmware-data buffer. A malformed header could therefore cause parsing to access data beyond the buffer boundary.
