CVE-2024-42244 is a type-confusion flaw in the Linux kernel MOS7840 USB serial driver resume path. After the USB serial core began invoking its generic resume implementation when a driver supplied no resume callback, resuming an open MOS7840 device submitted both read URBs. The second read URB retained a context pointer intended for USB serial core handling rather than the MOS7840 per-port structure expected by the driver callback. Processing that URB can dereference the incompatible context and crash the kernel. The fix adds MOS7840-specific suspend and resume handlers and restores correct read-URB state handling during resume.
