Linguistic Lumberjack is a critical memory corruption vulnerability in Fluent Bit’s embedded HTTP server affecting versions 2.0.7 through 3.0.3. The flaw is triggered while parsing trace-management requests to the monitoring API, specifically the traces endpoint, where the server improperly validates the data types of elements supplied in the "inputs" array and incorrectly treats them as string objects. Supplying non-string values such as integers can cause unsafe length and pointer handling during string creation and subsequent memory operations, leading to heap corruption, stack corruption, crashes, and unintended memory disclosure in HTTP responses. The issue was introduced in version 2.0.7 and fixed by adding proper type validation for values processed by the traces request parser.

A specific security vulnerability in Fluent Bit that Microsoft states was resolved by upgrading Fluent Bit to version 3.0.5 in Azure Monitor Agent Windows 1.27.0.
A vulnerability in Fluent Bit's built-in HTTP server (aka Linguistic Lumberjack) that may allow denial-of-service, information disclosure, or remote code execution.
A critical memory corruption (heap buffer overflow) vulnerability in Fluent Bit’s embedded HTTP server trace-request parsing that can be exploited for denial-of-service and information disclosure, and potentially remote code execution under the right conditions.
A critical memory-corruption vulnerability in Fluent Bit’s built-in HTTP server (monitoring API /api/v1/traces parsing) caused by improper validation of MSGPACK input types, enabling denial of service, information disclosure, and potentially remote code execution.
