CVE-2024-43880 is a logic flaw in the Linux kernel mlxsw Spectrum ACL enhanced rule processing component. On Spectrum-2 and later ASICs, ACL masks may be managed in algorithmic or circuit TCAM regions. During periodic ACL-region rehashing and migration, the object-aggregation comparison callback compared masks while ignoring the TCAM-placement attribute. Recursive hint lookup could consequently resolve an object to one associated with a different TCAM type and assign nested object parents, a state unsupported by the objagg library. The condition triggers an objagg object-parent assignment warning in the kernel workqueue handling ACL TCAM virtual-region rehashing.
