CVE-2024-44285 is a use-after-free vulnerability affecting IOSurface in Apple operating systems. An app may trigger the memory-lifetime flaw, resulting in unexpected system termination or corruption of kernel memory. Apple corrected the issue through improved memory management.

This repository contains an iOS/macOS Xcode project named 'explt' that implements a local proof-of-concept (POC) exploit targeting the IOSurfaceRoot IOKit service. The main exploit logic resides in 'explt/poc.c' and is triggered via the app's UI (a button in the main view controller). When the exploit is triggered, it opens a connection to the IOSurfaceRoot service and launches two threads that repeatedly call IOConnectCallMethod with a specially crafted serialized dictionary, attempting to trigger a race condition in the kernel service. The project includes standard Xcode scaffolding (storyboards, asset catalogs, Info.plist) and Objective-C glue code to integrate the C-based exploit logic. No network endpoints are present; the attack vector is local, requiring code execution on the target device. The exploit is a POC and does not include a weaponized payload, but demonstrates the ability to trigger a kernel-level race condition, which could be used for further exploitation if the underlying vulnerability is present.
