CVE-2024-44931 is a speculative-execution information-disclosure flaw in the Linux kernel GPIO subsystem. A userspace-supplied GPIO offset reaches gpio_device_get_desc() through gpio_ioctl() and is used as an index into the GPIO descriptor array without speculation-safe bounds sanitization. Although architectural bounds checks may prevent ordinary out-of-range access, speculative execution can transiently access data beyond the descriptor array. The fix applies array_index_nospec() to the offset before it is used for the array access.
