CVE-2024-45774 is a heap-based out-of-bounds write in the GRUB2 JPEG parser. A specially crafted JPEG containing an extra SOF0 marker causes incorrect bounds checking of internal buffers during JPEG parsing. The resulting memory corruption may overwrite sensitive information and could be used to bypass Secure Boot protections.
