CVE-2024-46800 is a use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel's sch_netem network-emulation queuing discipline. It occurs in netem_dequeue() when a packet is enqueued to an inner queuing discipline that returns __NET_XMIT_STOLEN. Although the packet is dropped, the parent queue length is not reduced because qdisc_tree_reduce_backlog() is not called. The resulting stale parent queue state can subsequently cause a use-after-free condition.

A Linux kernel use-after-free vulnerability in the sch_netem traffic-control queuing discipline's netem_dequeue() path. Under a specific nested qdisc configuration, a packet redirected to an inner qdisc can be dropped without reducing the parent queue backlog, resulting in stale state and a use-after-free condition.
