CVE-2024-46858 is a use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel Multipath TCP (MPTCP) path manager. Concurrent packet-processing and Generic Netlink address-flush paths can both reach mptcp_pm_del_add_timer. The address-removal path can release an address-list entry after leaving the pm.lock-protected critical section while another CPU subsequently dereferences the entry's add_timer member during synchronized timer deletion. The fix retains the timer reference while holding pm.lock, uses that retained reference for sk_stop_timer_sync(), and moves list removal into mptcp_pm_del_add_timer under the lock, preventing entry member accesses outside the protected region.
