CVE-2024-50154 is a use-after-free vulnerability in Linux kernel TCP/DCCP request-socket timer handling. A race introduced by using timer_pending() in reqsk_queue_unlink() can cause del_timer_sync() to be skipped after the timer has been detached but while its handler remains active. The request-socket timer can subsequently be rescheduled. If the associated socket is accepted and then closed before a later timer execution, a BPF tracing program attached to TCP SYN+ACK retransmission processing can dereference the stale req->sk pointer through bpf_sk_storage_get_tracing.

A high-severity Linux kernel TCP/DCCP use-after-free caused by a race in request-socket timer handling. Under a narrow timing condition, the timer may be rescheduled after its socket is closed, allowing BPF tracing code to dereference freed socket memory. Google COS installations using sys-kernel/lakitu-kernel-6_1 before version 18244.236.64 are affected.
A locally exploitable vulnerability affecting Unity Linux packages, with high confidentiality, integrity, and availability impact in the supplied CVSS vectors. Exploitation requires local access, low privileges, and high attack complexity.
