CVE-2024-50299 is an input-validation vulnerability in the Linux kernel SCTP state-machine function sctp_sf_ootb(), which processes out-of-the-blue SCTP packets. The function did not adequately validate SCTP chunk sizes while walking packet chunks. A malformed packet can cause the kernel to consume invalid or uninitialized data during SCTP processing. The flaw was corrected by adding chunk-size validation analogous to validation already added to other SCTP chunk-walking paths.
