CVE-2024-52301 affects the Laravel web application framework. When PHP is configured with the register_argc_argv directive enabled, a remote user can send a specially crafted URL query string that influences argv-derived input during request handling. In vulnerable Laravel versions, this can cause the framework to use an attacker-controlled environment value when determining the application environment for a non-CLI request. The issue was fixed by changing the framework to ignore argv values for environment detection on non-CLI SAPIs. Fixed versions are 6.20.45, 7.30.7, 8.83.28, 9.52.17, 10.48.23, and 11.31.0.

This repository is a proof-of-concept (POC) for CVE-2024-52301, a vulnerability in the Laravel PHP framework that allows manipulation of application configuration via GET parameters. The repository contains a Docker setup to run a minimal PHP environment with two main scripts: 'exploit.php' (which contains stripped-down logic from Laravel 6.x to demonstrate the vulnerable code path) and 'phpinfo.php' (to check PHP configuration). The exploit is triggered by sending a GET request to '/exploit.php' with the '--env' parameter, which simulates how the vulnerability could be exploited in Laravel. The code is not weaponized and serves as a research and demonstration tool for understanding the vulnerability. No hardcoded malicious payloads are present; the focus is on showing the code path and configuration manipulation. The repository is well-structured for research and educational purposes.
