CVE-2024-52875 is a critical input-validation flaw in the GFI Kerio Control web interface affecting versions 9.2.5 through 9.4.5. The vulnerability is caused by improper sanitization of the dest GET parameter used by multiple unauthenticated endpoints, including addCertException, guestConfirm, and expiration, before that value is incorporated into a Location header in an HTTP 302 response. This allows carriage return and line feed injection, enabling HTTP response splitting and open redirect behavior. The response-splitting condition can be leveraged for reflected cross-site scripting against users who follow a crafted link. Where the victim is an authenticated administrator, the attack chain can be escalated by abusing the administrative upgrade functionality to upload a malicious firmware image, resulting in remote code execution and full compromise of the appliance.
