CVE-2024-53241 is a speculative-execution vulnerability in the Linux kernel x86 Xen paravirtualized (PV) iret hypercall path, tracked as Xen Security Advisory XSA-466. The vulnerable implementation invokes the PV iret hypercall through the Xen hypercall page, a mechanism that is unsafe in the presence of speculation mitigations. The upstream correction replaces the jump through the hypercall page with the required iret sequence encoded directly in xen-asm.S, removing this use of the hypercall page.
