CVE-2024-56642 is a use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel TIPC UDP media implementation. During UDP bearer teardown, bearer_disable() invokes tipc_udp_disable(), which defers kernel-socket cleanup to cleanup_bearer() work. The work accounting counter used by tipc_exit_net() is decremented before cleanup_bearer() releases the UDP kernel socket. This can allow network-namespace cleanup to free the associated network namespace while the deferred worker subsequently releases and dereferences the socket, resulting in a use-after-free in the UDP socket release path. The fix moves the work-count decrement until after the socket has been released.
