CVE-2024-56662 is an out-of-bounds read vulnerability in the Linux kernel ACPI NFIT control path. The cmd_to_func() logic can access the nd_reserved2 member of an nd_cmd_pkg structure without first confirming that the caller-supplied buffer is large enough for the complete structure. A malformed, undersized buffer can therefore cause a vmalloc out-of-bounds read and undefined kernel behavior. The flaw was detected by syzbot using KASAN.
