CVE-2024-57876 is a race condition in the Linux kernel DisplayPort Multi-Stream Transport (DP MST) topology manager. When an MST topology is removed while an MST down-reply or up-request sideband message is being received, one thread can reset the topology manager receive state through drm_dp_mst_topology_mgr_set_mst(false) while another thread reads and parses that state in drm_dp_mst_handle_down_rep() or drm_dp_mst_handle_up_req(). The reader/parser accesses the message reception state without holding a lock, allowing the concurrent reset to cause memory corruption.
