CVE-2024-57989 is a NULL-pointer dereference vulnerability in the Linux kernel MediaTek mt76 driver's mt7925 support. In mt7925_change_vif_links(), the return value of devm_kzalloc() was used without first checking whether allocation failed and returned NULL. Under memory-allocation failure conditions, subsequent use of the pointer can dereference NULL and crash the kernel. The flaw was introduced in Linux kernel 6.11 and affects the mt7925 Wi-Fi driver code.
