CVE-2024-58006 affects the Linux kernel DesignWare PCI endpoint controller implementation. The endpoint BAR configuration routine permits a previously configured BAR to be set again so that its backing physical address can be updated without clearing the BAR and losing its host-assigned PCI address. Before the fix, the routine did not ensure that the replacement BAR retained the original size and flags. A replacement mapping smaller than the BAR size already exposed to the PCI host can cause accesses beyond the new inbound address-translation range to pass untranslated, enabling reads outside the memory associated with the replacement BAR.
