CVE-2024-58069 is an out-of-bounds write vulnerability in the Linux kernel RTC PCF85063 driver's NVMEM read path. The NVMEM interface permits caller-supplied variable-sized buffers, whereas the underlying regmap read operation writes an unsigned integer-sized value. When an NVMEM client supplies a buffer smaller than four bytes, the regmap operation can write beyond the supplied buffer. The fix reads into an intermediate unsigned integer rather than directly into the caller buffer.
