The library does not sufficiently restrict XML entity-expansion depth, allowing a crafted XML document containing deeply nested or recursive entity references to drive unbounded parser recursion. Stack exhaustion can cause a process crash and may produce memory-corruption conditions depending on the host environment and the application's use of libexpat.
