CVE-2024-9193 affects the WHMpress - WHMCS WordPress Integration Plugin for WordPress in all versions up to and including 6.3-revision-0. The vulnerability is a Local File Inclusion (LFI) issue in the whmpress_domain_search_ajax_extended_results() function. An unauthenticated attacker can cause arbitrary local files on the server to be included and, where the included file contains executable PHP, executed in the context of the web application. According to the provided content, this can be abused to bypass access controls, disclose sensitive data, and achieve code execution in scenarios where attacker-controlled files such as uploaded images or other nominally safe file types can be included. The provided content also states that the flaw can be used by unauthenticated attackers to update arbitrary WordPress options, and specifically that inclusion of /admin/services.php can be leveraged to modify the default registration role to administrator and enable user registration, resulting in administrative access.
