CVE-2024-9698 is an arbitrary file upload vulnerability in the Crafthemes Demo Import plugin for WordPress affecting all versions up to and including 3.3. The issue is caused by missing file type validation in the process_uploaded_files function. Because uploaded files are not properly restricted or validated, an authenticated attacker with Administrator-level privileges or higher can upload arbitrary files to the server hosting the affected WordPress site. If the uploaded file is placed in a web-accessible location and executable by the server, this can lead to remote code execution.

This repository contains a Python exploit script (CVE-2024-9698.py) and a README.md file. The exploit targets CVE-2024-9698, a vulnerability in the Crafthemes Demo Import WordPress plugin (versions <= 3.3) that allows authenticated administrators to upload arbitrary files, leading to remote code execution. The script automates the exploitation process: it checks the plugin version, logs in as an admin, extracts a required nonce from the plugin's admin page, and uploads a user-supplied PHP payload (defaulting to a simple webshell) via the admin-ajax.php endpoint. If successful, the shell is accessible in the uploads directory. The README provides detailed usage instructions, prerequisites, and mitigation advice. The exploit requires valid admin credentials and is operational, providing a working webshell on vulnerable targets.
