CVE-2025-11683 is an out-of-bounds read vulnerability in YAML::Syck for Perl, affecting versions before 1.36. The flaw is caused by missing null terminators in the bundled libsyck lexer code in token.c, which allows parsing logic to read past the intended end of a token buffer. The issue is triggered when parsing complex YAML input, particularly structures consisting of hashes with keys and empty values, where adjacent in-memory variables may be read due to improper string termination handling. The vulnerability is associated with lexer processing paths that assume null-terminated input and can over-read into adjacent allocated memory.
