YAML::Syck for Perl versions before 1.36 contains a missing NUL-termination flaw in token.c. When parsing complex YAML containing a hash whose keys have empty values, lexer processing can read beyond the intended string boundary into adjacent allocated data. This is an out-of-bounds read condition. A later lexer-path issue, CVE-2026-57077, was identified as an incomplete-fix follow-on to this vulnerability.
