CVE-2025-13156 is an arbitrary file upload vulnerability in the Vitepos – Point of Sale (POS) for WooCommerce WordPress plugin affecting all versions up to and including 3.3.0. The flaw is caused by missing file type validation in the insert_media_attachment() path, specifically because the save_update_category_img() function accepts user-supplied file types for category image uploads without verifying that the uploaded content is a legitimate image. As a result, an authenticated attacker with subscriber-level access or higher can upload arbitrary files, including executable PHP payloads, to the server. If the uploaded file is placed in a web-accessible location, the attacker can invoke it over HTTP and achieve remote code execution in the context of the web server process.
