CVE-2025-15646 is an information disclosure vulnerability in HTML::Gumbo for Perl affecting versions before 0.19. The flaw is in the walk_tree function in lib/HTML/Gumbo.xs. After libgumbo added support for the HTML <template> element via the GUMBO_NODE_TEMPLATE node type, HTML::Gumbo's walk_tree logic was not updated accordingly. As a result, a <template> node can be treated as a text node, causing type confusion and leading strlen() to read past the intended bounds of the referenced heap buffer. When parse() is invoked on attacker-controlled HTML containing a <template> element, and the caller uses the default format => 'string' or format => 'tree', the over-read bytes can be serialized into the returned result, disclosing bounded heap memory contents. The format => 'callback' mode is described as unaffected because it croaks on the unhandled node type instead of serializing data.

An information disclosure / memory-safety issue in libhtml-gumbo-perl caused by incorrect handling of the GUMBO_NODE_TEMPLATE node type, leading to use of uninitialized data and erratic output when parsing HTML containing <template>.
A heap memory disclosure vulnerability in HTML::Gumbo before version 0.19 for Perl caused by type confusion and an out-of-bounds read when parsing input containing a <template> element.
