CVE-2025-21724 is an undefined-behavior flaw in the Linux kernel iommufd/iova_bitmap component, in iova_bitmap_offset_to_index(). The function shifts the default 32-bit int constant 1 by bitmap->mapped.pgshift, an unsigned-long page-shift value. When pgshift exceeds 31, such as 63, the result cannot be represented as a 32-bit int, causing a UBSAN-detected shift-out-of-bounds condition.

A Linux kernel iommufd iova_bitmap shift-out-of-bounds vulnerability caused by shifting a 32-bit integer constant by a potentially large page-shift value. The affected Google Container-Optimized OS kernel packages can be remediated by updating to version 17800.519.1 or later.
A shift-out-of-bounds vulnerability in the Linux kernel iommufd/iova_bitmap component.
Shift-out-of-bounds vulnerability in the Linux kernel iommufd/iova_bitmap component.
A Linux kernel iommufd iova_bitmap undefined-behavior flaw in iova_bitmap_offset_to_index(), caused by shifting a 32-bit integer constant by a potentially greater-than-31-bit page-shift value. The fix changes the constant from "1" to "1UL" so its type matches the unsigned long shift operand.
