CVE-2025-21732 is a race condition in the Linux kernel RDMA mlx5 driver’s handling of On-Demand Paging (ODP) memory regions. During memory-region deregistration, the hardware lkey can be revoked while a concurrent memory-management invalidation for the same ODP memory region proceeds. The invalidation path can then submit an XLT update through the UMR queue pair using the already-freed lkey, producing a memory-bind completion-queue error and placing the UMR queue pair into an error state. The fix extends synchronization with the ODP memory-region mutex across revocation and clears the ODP private pointer after a successful revoke, preventing subsequent invalidation attempts from using the revoked memory region.
