CVE-2025-21786 is a use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel workqueue subsystem. A change that reaped normal workers using kthread_stop() did not correctly handle rescuer workers and removed waiting logic from put_unbound_pool(). Consequently, the pool workqueue (pwq) reference could be released before rescuer detachment from its worker pool had completed, allowing subsequent operations to access freed pool state. The corrective change defers release of the pwq reference until after the rescuer has detached from the pool.
